WHAT IS A 90-DAY BIT?
If you operate a vehicle with a GVW rating of 10,000 lbs. or more in California, you need your vehicle inspected every 90 days. This is what typically is referred to as a BIT inspection or 90 day inspection. The California Highway Patrol will want to see your records for the inspections done by a qualified mechanic when they audit you. A 90-DAY BIT is not a part of the CHP BIT Program and is not considered a DOT inspection.
DOT INSPECTIONS CAN ONLY BE DONE BY C.H.P. or D.O.T. OFFICERS
